Krispy Kreme and Approximately 61 Days of Survival

Image
Happy Two Months to Me! Yeah, and since Krispy Kreme is having their 75th Birthday, I decided to ride on with their celebration. Now, for the people who've been my friends (personally or on FB), you might have noticed that I've been congratulating myself every Friday for another week down. This time, however, I've decided to make it monthly. (Also because it's getting too expensive to celebrate every week. Then again . . .) So here's my second monthsary  celebration, brought to you by the amazing Krispy Kreme. The first time I've heard of Krispy Kreme was probably about five years ago. Every time some dorm mate or classmate of ours would be travelling to Manila (I don't think they had a branch in Cebu that time), we'd nag them to buy us some of these sought after doughnuts. And when they do give in to our annoying pleading, we'd wait patiently for them back at the dorm. Like pet dogs left by their owner or little children on Christmas d...

Fashion Confined: San San Nail Polish Remover

Image
Okay, this is a fairly short post, but I just really wanted to tell everyone about this product. Nope, this is not a paid advertisement, and I am definitely not being coerced into writing this. I am, however, convinced that this is one of those products girls like me, who paint their nails by themselves out of boredom or creativity, would really love to have. Yes, people, it's a nail polish remover. Now, considering that all my life I thought nail polish removers were all acetones, finding one that conspicuously says "Acetone Free" is a bit of a worrisome predicament. Will this even work?  But hey, that wondrous time when I searched high and low for acetone and this was all I found, I guess any nail polish remover was better than no nail polish remover. So I went into HBC  Robinsons Fuente, bought this weird water-looking substance in a blue bottle and went home. Doubtful, yes, I was. Still, the need overpowered the regret of not going to other stores. So I used th...

My Long Overdue Thank You

Image
This is an Apple logo. The only thing that means is that this post will be about some Apple product. This post will be about some Apple product that has found its way into my hands. More than that, this Apple product is one of the hard evidences that I have a brother in this world. You know why? This Apple product came with this: Less than often, I find myself thinking What if I had a different family? A different brother? A different life?  Then I wake up and realize, I don't want anything other than what is given to me. I don't want anything other than the real gift of family (even if they did tell me I was adopted but I really wasn't). So one night, when everything was dark and boring, I found a chat message from my favorite BROTHER, who also happens to be my ONLY brother, asking me what I wanted. The last time he asked me that question, I told him I wanted an iPad2. I cancelled that request because of unforeseen reasons. In replacement, I said I wanted the H...

The Wonder of the Moment

Image
It's wonderful, majestic, and truly inspiring. The sun eclipsed by the shadow of the moon is just one of those creations and phenomena we might never really get enough of. Today, at five in the morning, I was practically racing the first rays of light from the sun. I got to the only place I could think of that wasn't obstructed by buildings. The small patch of land near Ayala, where people jog in the morning, seemed to be the best and nearest option. So I took off for that spot. Upon my first ocular inspection, it was apparent that I may not see any sun at all. There was a huge wall of cumulunimbus clouds right in front of where I knew the sun was. It was depressing. The light started spreading in the sky and the many joggers were starting to throw weird looks at the girl wearing a jacket, jeans, and carrying a roll of film in her hand. I walked as slowly as I could, hoping the clouds would somehow blow away when I finally found the perfect place to stand rooted in the c...

"So that's what it does": The Avengers Movie Review

Image
DUE TO INSISTENT PUBLIC DEMAND, HERE'S THE WARNING: THIS REVIEW WILL SPOIL YOUR MOVIE EXPERIENCE. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. =) So, yeah. I'm back! And I have another movie review. And this time, it's not going to be about my own opinions/sarcastic comments because frankly, I have very little negativity to pour out on this movie. Just to keep things in perspective, please note that I haven't read the original comics and have no background information on any of these superheroes except for the biographies they've given us through the past movies (i.e., Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Hulk ). Bear with the awesomeness I'm feeling after being in their presence because as far as I'm concerned, the movie pretty much speaks for itself. Plus points: 1. The movie is an applaud-inducing feature that forces even the ones in the loners'  row to clap and laugh and talk to themselves. (Will talk about the loners' row some other time and yes, that...

Feeding on Words: The Hunger Games Movie

Image
Spoiler Alert : because it's eating me too much and I don't want to keep it all to myself. To those who have not seen the movie, read with utmost discretion. This is a completely opinionated review and I will be rambling on the first few lines just so you don't get to read what you don't want to read even before you click the link. There, that should be enough. Warning: very long post below...much like the Transformers review I wrote which you can read here . Also, when I say 'that did not happen' I really mean 'that did not happen in the book'. Okay? Happy 74th Hunger Games! As the world may know, The Hunger Games Movie has been released officially today! Because everyone probably already knows what the Hunger Games is about, I'll skip directly to the movie. Blablabla rambling because I can't say it all straight. By the way, for those of you who don't want to go through all this muck, I shall do you a favor and boldface  the highl...

Fashion Confined: Hair Pins and the arduous task of using them

Image
A couple of months ago, I was running around on the website called Youtube and I found tutorials on how to fix my hair. As some of you may know, I now have very long hair that's straight at the top and curly at the bottom (sounds like food). I had it permed over a year ago and I'm loving the effect it finally has: the pseudo Korean hair when they want to make an actress look older. So, since I have long hair and I was feeling creative, I bought myself this set of hair pins. My main objective was to get the Taylor Swift messy side swept updo, which you can watch here. It seems easy when you watch the video and especially if you have someone to do it to your hair. And because I felt very daring, like I can do anything they can do, without hairspray and all, I did the messy side swept updo. Tada! Booyah! Thought I got it right. haha Yes, that's all the pictures you'll get for this hairstyle because I could not bring myself to show you what happened. It...
