Forever Just Ended: A Breaking Dawn Part 2 Review

Image
Okay, I can't say that I am a real fan of the twilight saga, although I have read all four books plus the Bree Tanner short and watched all five movies, but I am simply going out of my way to say that I am seriously impressed with the franchise's very last movie. I mean I am totally, inconceivably, unbelievably blown out of my usual sarcastic nature toward movies. I'm not even going to discuss how weird it was for them to have a CG baby when they could have paid for a real one. And I am not even going to point out that on the night before the fight, Bella told Renesmee that she wouldn't be there, but when the morning came, she was still there. No, maybe that was because she really wasn't supposed to be there for the fight. Anyway, I'm not going to delve on the ridiculousness of having to explain what's happening as if we were reading the book. I am just going ahead and saying this is my most-liked Twilight movie--ever. Factors? I guess it helps that I can...

In Memory of You

Image
(Note: Either you read it all the way through or read the last part only. Don't stop reading in the middle of it; you'll get the wrong picture . . . and we really wouldn't want that.) It took me years and years before I could say yes to you. And even when I finally agreed, I still told myself firmly that I wouldn't get hooked on you, that I'd remain loyal to my first. But that's probably just another one of those impulse promises we make from time to time, because as time passed, I grew almost addicted to you. True, it's only been about three years, but three years is a long time to spend together. All the messages we shared, all the late night moments under the pillow, trying hard not to be heard (please don't think wrong about this sentence). Being together for three years is like a lifetime, and for you, it is a lifetime. I remember when I first had you. Everybody congratulated me. "Finally," they all seemed to say. "It took you t...

Four Years for a Few Seconds of Glory

Image
image from eonline.com The London 2012 Summer Olympics is finally over. It started with a bang; it ended with a bang. It has met a lot of opposition, even unrest in the past year, yet the games went on. The games pushed through and so did the thousands of athletes, volunteers, and organizers who were responsible for this grand event. Every sweat, every tear, every sleepless night of working, negotiating, planning, and putting into action--all for sixteen days of competition. I wasn't a really huge fan of the Olympics. In my lifetime, I should have watched about five Olympic games, but I didn't. Excuse the first two games because I was probably still absorbed in my discovery of the world, but the past games, I haven't been paying attention. I remember the Atlanta Olympics because of Shannon Miller. She was my favorite athlete and gymnast, but I didn't know who she was until about a few days ago. I watched almost all the Artistic Gymnastics events, and through al...

Fashion Confined: The Face-Shoe Experience

Image
Okay, some people are just better at this than I am, and I'm willing to make you understand that this isn't exactly the kind of stuff I'm good at. This topic, though I have practiced it over and over in my head, is still as vague and lopsided as I first thought it would be when I made up my mind to blog about. And maybe that's kind of obvious, considering the fact that this post is about two months late. Nevertheless, here it is, my meek attempt at lifestyle blogging. Once upon a time, a crazy senseless girl was sent to a city that actually had a decent shopping mall. One day, she finally decided to look like a girl. Looking at her collection of footwear, which consisted of one pair of red rubber shoes she's had since 2007, one pair of sandals that was slowly falling apart, a pair of silver high heels that she would only wear if she really had to, and a pair slippers she uses around her humble abode, the girl knew she had to buy herself another pair of shoes. Doll...

"Are you sure that's him?": The Dark Knight Rises Review

Image
Warning: May contain spoilers . . . okay, will contain spoilers. =) Rarely do I find a movie that I cannot review without any sarcasm in the subliminal form. This is one of those movies. I'm no movie expert, but as an avid movie watcher, this is a great watch. I'm not going to say must  watch because anyone can survive life without watching this movie, but if you have the time and the resources (or have awesome friends who share your passion for big-screen movies and have extra money to spare), I deeply recommend this movie. So here's a tip for all you movie-watching readers: though it's not a requirement, watching the first two movies, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight , can give you a better movie experience. I know because I watched the first two movies about two weeks ago, and it really refreshed my memory. You'll find a lot of continuing story lines and clips that they've taken from the first two movies, which shows that the production team has tried...

Krispy Kreme and Approximately 61 Days of Survival

Image
Happy Two Months to Me! Yeah, and since Krispy Kreme is having their 75th Birthday, I decided to ride on with their celebration. Now, for the people who've been my friends (personally or on FB), you might have noticed that I've been congratulating myself every Friday for another week down. This time, however, I've decided to make it monthly. (Also because it's getting too expensive to celebrate every week. Then again . . .) So here's my second monthsary  celebration, brought to you by the amazing Krispy Kreme. The first time I've heard of Krispy Kreme was probably about five years ago. Every time some dorm mate or classmate of ours would be travelling to Manila (I don't think they had a branch in Cebu that time), we'd nag them to buy us some of these sought after doughnuts. And when they do give in to our annoying pleading, we'd wait patiently for them back at the dorm. Like pet dogs left by their owner or little children on Christmas d...

Fashion Confined: San San Nail Polish Remover

Image
Okay, this is a fairly short post, but I just really wanted to tell everyone about this product. Nope, this is not a paid advertisement, and I am definitely not being coerced into writing this. I am, however, convinced that this is one of those products girls like me, who paint their nails by themselves out of boredom or creativity, would really love to have. Yes, people, it's a nail polish remover. Now, considering that all my life I thought nail polish removers were all acetones, finding one that conspicuously says "Acetone Free" is a bit of a worrisome predicament. Will this even work?  But hey, that wondrous time when I searched high and low for acetone and this was all I found, I guess any nail polish remover was better than no nail polish remover. So I went into HBC  Robinsons Fuente, bought this weird water-looking substance in a blue bottle and went home. Doubtful, yes, I was. Still, the need overpowered the regret of not going to other stores. So I used th...
